Personal Growth Princess is for those of us who just can’t stop growing, and who happen to have a little attitude and maybe even a little sass. We can’t NOT learn more about ourselves. We’re just driven that way.
We can’t not question and explore.
Personal Growth Princess developed out of my own passion for personal growth. Like many of you, for years I had referred to myself as a personal growth junkie or self-help junkie. This was always said in a self-deprecating way,
even though I secretly harbored a love of it.
I bought self help books by the dozens. I didn’t necessarily read them, but I would read the back cover, buy them, and then stack them on my nightstand for the so-called bedtime reading.
I would attend almost any personal growth seminar or talk that came my way. I seemed to have an unquenchable thirst for learning more, learning more about myself, and thinking about what it all might mean. I think at one point I was investing over $30,000 per year in various personal growth activities!
What I realized is that there really wasn’t any good way to know whether a book or seminar was any good or would be valuable without actually buying it or attending. I could read book reviews, but frankly most of them are written with the goal of selling the book. Friends would tell me about seminars they had attended and how great they felt afterwards, but it was the rare attendee who could actually explain what happened and why it changed them the way it did, or how it might affect me given my own unique set of issues.
That’s where Personal Growth Princess comes in. This is my attempt to help my kindred enthusiasts continue their passion, consider new possibilities, and make wise decisions about where to invest their personal growth dollars.
(You can read about the “princess” part of the picture on the Am I A Personal Growth Princess page.
Personal Growth Princess is about doing what I love, while helping other personal growth enthusiasts get the information and access they need to make the best decisions for themselves.
And to do so without a hidden agenda. I don’t get paid by the authors or seminar leaders. They can always ask me to review their work – I may or may not agree to do so. But if I do, it in no way obligates me to give a favorable review. I will be brutally honest about what I think and why I think it.
There may be times when I know the author or creator of a certain work. I’ve been in this industry for quite awhile, so I do have lots of familiarity with people. But, I will always disclose when that is the case. That way you will be fully informed and can decide for yourself how you want to use the information.
If I find something that is particularly valuable or significant, and there is an affiliate program for it, I will probably use an affiliate link in my information. That bugs some people, but hopefully not a Princess. After all, if you’ve put hours of time and energy into research, experimenting, and evaluating, not to mention your own investment of $25-$15,000 per resource, doesn’t it sound reasonable that you might receive 50 cents, $10, whatever, of the cost the person was going to pay anyway?
That’s all I’ll be doing. It’s up to you whether you want to be bugged by that. (But if you area bugged by that, I have a couple of programs I can recommend to help you with that.
)
I’m excited that you’re here…and that you are claiming your “Princess” identity.
